About the position

The Path Forward Return to Work program at CDK Global is a 16-week paid Returnship designed for experienced professionals who are re-entering the workforce after taking time off for caregiving responsibilities. This program is specifically tailored for individuals who have at least 5 years of professional experience and have been out of the paid workforce for a minimum of two years to focus on caring for a child or other dependent. CDK Global is enthusiastic about participating in the Path Forward program, recognizing the valuable skills and unique perspectives that returning professionals bring to the table. This initiative not only provides an opportunity to refresh and enhance your skills but also allows participants to update their resumes with new experiences and network with other individuals transitioning back into the workforce. Support is provided through Path Forward, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering those who have focused on caregiving to successfully transition back to paid employment. In this role, the Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) will be a key player in the quality assurance process, possessing a strong foundation in quality principles and intermediate programming skills. The SDET will transition from manual testing to a focus on test automation, collaborating closely with product and engineering/scrum teams to review requirements and build automation solutions that maintain data quality. The position requires devising a comprehensive test strategy for new products and ensuring its execution across multiple teams. The SDET will monitor tests, report and resolve failures, and work alongside manual QA teams to automate repetitive and critical test cases. Additionally, the role involves researching new tools and techniques to enhance quality, providing quality reports with actionable recommendations, and developing and coding test cases.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product & engineering/scrum teams to review requirements and build automation to maintain data quality.
• Devise the comprehensive test strategy for a new product and ensure it is executed across multiple teams.
• Monitor tests and report/resolve failures.
• Work with manual QA to automate repetitive and critical test cases (automation test suite).
• Research new tools and techniques to improve quality.
• Provide quality reports with recommendations for improvement.
• Develop/code test cases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, computer science or related field is preferred, with a minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience in one of these fields (work experience may be used to in place of degree).
• 2+ years of End-to-End Automated testing experience using one or more test automation tools (Talend or Collibra preferred).
• 2+ years engineering experience with various programming languages (SQL, Python or Java preferred).
• Experience with source control (Git, GitHub Flow).
• An ongoing thirst for new knowledge and ideas, and a passion for software engineering as a QA Automation Engineer.
• Experience working with distributed teams. Participate in manual functional testing by developing new test coverage, as required.

Nice-to-haves

• End-to-End Automated testing exposure by using one or more testing tools (Talend or Collibra preferred).
• Ability to code automation scripts for various QA activities (Integration scripts between CI/CD tool and Test management tool).
• Focus on automated processes (Test reports, Test traceability). Leverage current team skills and lead automation efforts. Take ownership of automation repository (Script maintenance, expansion, continuous improvements).
• Creative problem-solving, proficient debugging and profiling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
