About the position

As a QA Engineer at Systems Integration & Development (SID), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. This full-time remote position requires you to actively participate in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) by providing valuable input to project teams regarding testing strategies and requirements. You will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive test cases based on both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of quality before they are released to our clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include recording and documenting test results, comparing them to expected outcomes, and identifying, logging, and tracking defects using our defect tracking system. You will conduct thorough root cause analyses of identified defects and provide constructive feedback to development teams to facilitate improvements. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with development teams to reproduce and troubleshoot reported issues, ensuring that all problems are addressed promptly and effectively. In addition to manual testing, you will set up and manage automated testing frameworks and tools specifically for Appian applications using Fitnesse. Staying current with industry best practices and trends in software testing is essential, as you will be expected to bring innovative ideas to the table and contribute to the continuous improvement of our testing processes. You may also be assigned additional duties as needed, making this a dynamic and engaging position.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) by providing input to project teams on testing strategy and requirements
  • Create and execute test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements
  • Record and document test results and compare to expected results
  • Identify, log, and track defects in defect tracking system
  • Conduct root cause analysis of identified defects and provide feedback to development teams
  • Work with development teams to reproduce and troubleshoot reported issues
  • Set up and manage automated testing frameworks and tools for Appian applications using Fitnesse
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the development process
  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and trends in software testing
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software testing
  • Experience with Automation testing and automation testing tools (ie Selenium, Fitnesse)
  • Experience in Manual Testing
  • Solid understanding of software testing principles and methodologies
  • Experience in testing web-based applications and writing test scripts from scratch
  • Experience writing effective manuals and executing automated test cases and test plans
  • Experience with test case management tools and defect tracking systems
  • Prior programming and scripting experience with technologies such as Java, J2EE, Python, Bash
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies preferred
