About the position

The QA Engineer will be part of the Inscape QA team, focusing on ensuring the quality of front-end embedded clients and back-end core/cloud/data pipelines. This role involves validating the Inscape data set used by millions, identifying critical bugs, and ensuring high-quality data delivery to customers. The position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of the software development life cycle and a data-driven testing mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Create and update test strategies for each scheduled release.
  • Review requirements specifications and technical design documents to provide feedback.
  • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases.
  • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities.
  • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts for internal QA use and Operations.
  • Utilize Linux/bash for debugging through system-level logs.
  • Translate functional impacts into broader system-level data impacts.
  • Work with SQL and distributed systems, particularly with high throughput technologies like Kafka.
  • Analyze data using Databricks, Python/Spark, and big data technologies.
  • Identify, record, document, and track/triage bugs.
  • Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved.
  • Maintain a catalog of test scenarios.
  • Present testing results and progress to management.
  • Plan release windows and cycles across a portfolio.
  • Manage risks and resolve issues affecting release scope, schedule, and quality.
  • Develop load and performance testing strategies.
  • Participate in early SDLC with Product Managers and Developers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in complex system-level architecture or big data services.
  • Experience with large-scale integration projects involving ETLs, big data, databases, and streaming technologies like Kafka.
  • Experience testing big data environments and defining test approaches for platforms like Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Experience in creating testing strategies and engineering best practices for manual and automated testing.
  • Experience in root cause analysis and defect diagnosis techniques.
  • Experience with test automation for data warehouse testing.
  • Experience writing scripts to automate test cases.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Spark, and big data technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams.
  • Effective leadership and analytical skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience in building automated regression testing capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
