About the position

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for performing all Quality Engineering functions within the assigned Value Stream Team, ensuring product quality and compliance with customer requirements. This role involves reviewing incoming orders, preparing quality control instructions, conducting inspections and audits, resolving quality issues, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Quality Engineer will also coordinate with vendors and team members to enhance quality standards and provide exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and correct potential problems, leading corrective and preventive action activities.
  • Drive quality improvement projects through action plans and quality tools.
  • Prepare and approve Inspection and Test Plans for standard products according to specifications.
  • Review and approve customer orders to confirm quality requirements can be met.
  • Control and approve Product Containment, Nonconforming Product, Customer NCRs, and Field Complaints per QMS requirements.
  • Monitor quality trends and report developments to senior management and other functional areas.
  • Evaluate, analyze failures, and dispose of returned or rejected assemblies.
  • Review and dispose of defective components.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve quality issues.
  • Work with Quality Inspectors and Quality Technicians assigned to production lines.
  • Adhere to all company procedures and participate in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Support the team in evaluating Quality Characteristics of Product.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Process expertise in Logistics, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Management required.
  • Knowledge of standards/specifications unique to this role (APQP, AS9102, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001 preferred).
  • Experience in ISO9001 required and AS9100 preferred.
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA) required.
  • Education/Training in Value Stream Mapping, A3 Problem Solving, 5-Why, 8D, Leadership Standard Work.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems in a manufacturing environment; Epicor knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to lead and mentor others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create macros and pivot charts.
  • Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills, with the ability to use data for informed decisions.
  • Ability to operate independently with urgency and accountability.
  • Strong auditing and investigative traits.
  • Technical competency to communicate effectively on complex topics with Engineering, Program Management, and Customers.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
