About the position

The QA Lab Tech position at the Selah Plant involves a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of bulk ingredients and finished products. The primary responsibilities include collecting and analyzing incoming bulk ingredients, saving samples as required, and analyzing processes from concentrate through filtration. This is achieved using various instruments such as refractometers, spectrophotometers, turbidimeters, titrators, colorimeters, and vitamin C titrators, all while adhering to specified standards to ensure the raw product's integrity. The QA Lab Tech will also monitor the quality of finished products using the aforementioned instruments, maintaining accurate, detailed, and complete documentation to ensure the integrity of the finished product. Effective communication with operators and supervisors is essential to facilitate smooth operations and address any quality concerns promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze incoming bulk ingredients.
  • Save samples as required for quality assurance.
  • Analyze processes from concentrate through filtration using specified instruments.
  • Monitor finished product quality using laboratory instruments.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of laboratory results and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with operators and supervisors regarding quality issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months to one year of position-related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and statistical data.
  • Mathematical skills to perform basic calculations and interpret data.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Training in HAZCOM/HAZCAT and Emergency Evacuation procedures.
