About the position

The QA Performance Tester - Expert will serve as a contract Technical Specialist for the NCCRIS project, focusing on software testing disciplines across NCDOT-T. This role involves advising on best practices and industry standards for software testing, as well as performing various testing activities including performance and disaster recovery testing. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with management at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requests and design appropriate testing environments to support application and business requirements.
  • Assist in the development of detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, staffing plans, and status reports for tactical work.
  • Analyze code for requirements verification and validation of test results.
  • Collaborate with the SQA Leaders to receive feedback on work direction with the test team staff members.
  • Code scripts to support web service testing.
  • Perform testing services including test script development, functional testing, performance testing, and results reporting.
  • Assist the SQA Leaders with training, coaching, and mentoring in software testing processes, techniques, and tools.
  • Collaborate with SQA Leaders to resolve problems in day-to-day project management.
  • Review and analyze project requirements for clarity, understanding, and testability.
  • Develop system test plans and manual test cases.
  • Execute test cases and test scripts.
  • Manage and report defects.
  • Provide input or create testing artifacts such as Test Plans, Test Results, Metrics, and Defect Reports.
  • Provide weekly status reports to Management.
  • Collaborate with SQA Test Leaders to develop and execute test plans for NCDOT-T business needs.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of evolving software testing tools, processes, and techniques.
  • Assist SQA Leaders and IT Management with collecting, organizing, and communicating testing services and test results.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of specific agency functions and business needs; of changes in computer technology and specific application systems (5 years required).
  • Experience testing business web applications and complex business applications (5 years required).
  • Experience using OpenText Testing Tools Suite (ALM, UFT, LoadRunner/Performance Center, and SiteScope) (5 years required).
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively communicate actionable results for test analysis, issues identified, and proposed resolutions (5 years required).
  • Code test scripts to support web service testing (5 years required).
  • Analyze code for requirements verification and validation of test results (5 years required).
  • Collaborate with the SQA Leaders to receive feedback on work direction (5 years required).
  • Graduation from a 4-year college or university with a degree in Computer Science or a related field (4 years required).
