About the position

The QA/QC Area Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality of construction and welding activities across multiple project sites. This role involves implementing and maintaining QA/QC procedures in accordance with ASME codes and client-specific requirements. The manager will lead and mentor the QA/QC team, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration within the team and with other departments.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the quality of construction and welding activities across multiple project sites.
  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures in accordance with ASME codes and client-specific requirements.
  • Ensure QA/QC personnel are fully qualified and trained for efficient execution of Quality Control functions.
  • Collaborate with management and senior staff across sales and production departments.
  • Maintain compliance with company, client, and government regulations.
  • Resolve defects/issues while mitigating costs and effectively communicate findings to management.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels across the assigned area.
  • Provide continuous status updates of projects to the QA/QC Regional Manager and/or Director of QA/QC.
  • Participate in the selection and management of third-party QA/QC subcontractors when required.
  • Provide technical direction, support, and mentoring to the QA/QC area staff.
  • Prepare and present technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability with all QA/QC team members and subcontractors.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and demonstrate a commitment to a goal of ZERO injury or incidents.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role with a Quality Control Program in the construction industry.
  • 5+ years of experience in a management role directing people in a construction-related setting.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree with 10 years of overall experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current certification as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with a minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • Excellent leadership skills including honesty, integrity, patience, empathy, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of construction quality control, codes, and general construction management.
  • Experience with fabrication shop and field inspection practices.
  • Effective communicator at all levels of the business.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings, specifications, building and welding codes, and procedure manuals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or certification in construction management or engineering.
  • Experience and understanding of various trades (sheet metal, pipe fitting, plumbing, electrical, etc.).
  • Experience with CRM/PM Platforms: Bidtracer.
  • Collaboration tools: Smartsheet, Slack, Revizto, PlanGrid.
  • Design/Detailing software: Autodesk AEC Collection (Revit, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Proficient in Spanish.

  • Competitive salary ranging from $145,000 to $185,000 annually.
