About the position

The QA/QC Assistant Manager at Smith Industries LLC is responsible for ensuring the quality of materials and products throughout the production process. This role involves monitoring, qualifying, and training employees in accordance with industry standards, as well as managing quality assurance and control systems. The position requires strong leadership, decision-making skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with team members and management.

Responsibilities

  • Assure the quality of all materials, structures, and components of pressure vessels and other product lines.
  • Verify compliance with relevant quality standards and regulations.
  • Conduct independent checks and inspections with QC Inspectors.
  • Assist in defining a QA/QC program that meets regulatory requirements.
  • Organize and maintain a record retention system.
  • Assist in organizing QA/QC training courses.
  • Prepare, track, maintain, and distribute quality reports and records.
  • Register products with national regulatory agencies through authorized inspectors.
  • Ensure all materials received are accompanied by adequate Mill Test Reports.
  • Manage document processing efficiently in a hectic job shop environment.
  • Maintain electronic document systems and update various databases.
  • Monitor updates with CWI and oversee compliance processes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control management system maintenance.
  • CWI Certification is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills are necessary.
  • Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • Familiarity with API and ASME standards.
