About the position

The QA Release Management Analyst 3 position at UC San Diego involves testing software at the user level, utilizing both manual and automated testing techniques. The role focuses on ensuring that all information systems products meet organizational standards and user requirements, while also implementing release management processes. The analyst will collaborate with software development teams and product managers to develop features and evaluate technical implementations, contributing to a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion within the IT Services department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs complex procedures to ensure that all information systems products and services meet minimum organization standards and end-user requirements.
  • Analyzes and develops complex test scripts, test plans, and the test execution plans.
  • Implements release management by applying the application life-cycle management release process and principles.
  • Creates and maintains testing libraries in support of the software development process and life cycle.
  • Conducts test tracking, management, and reporting; provides statistical metrics based upon test results.
  • Plans, develops, and implements test automation based upon test plans and test cases.
  • Schedules and executes automated test cases based upon project release schedules, integrates results with project plan and RTM.
  • Recommends and implements improvements to procedures and develops models of possible future configurations.
  • Employs complex tools to perform workflow analysis and recommends quality improvements.
  • Keeps current tool set and functionality up-to-date, implements updates and release for test management framework.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • In-depth skills in software testing.
  • In-depth understanding of the use of automated testing tools, including skill to perform automated QA procedures.
  • In-depth understanding of the design, development, and analysis of software.
  • Thorough knowledge of other areas of IT and knowledge of department processes and procedures.
