About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a motivated Site Reliability Engineer to support the Air Force's acquisition of the next generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM). This role involves working with a software development team to maintain a platform that aligns with DevSecOps and GitOps principles, focusing on quality analysis of web applications and developing automation scripts for CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of next generation modeling, analytic and simulation software for the ICBM enterprise.
  • Assist with software integration and delivery (CI/CD).
  • Manage web servers and ensure alerting and monitoring are in place.
  • Build and maintain software development pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to software builds, scripts, networks, and systems.
  • Optimize the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Document processes and procedures related to system health and performance.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate operational considerations into the software development life cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of progressive experience (5 years with a Master's degree).
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and methods to automate processes.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows systems administration.
  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering, DevSecOps, and GitOps methodologies.
  • Strong Linux background and experience with Git.
  • Ability to gather and analyze metrics for performance tuning and root cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
  • Management of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Configuration as Code, and Security as Code (SaC).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts such as subnets, VPNs, firewalls, and routing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with deploying and administering Platform One Big Bang deployments.
  • Familiarity with open source platform tools like Rancher, Harbor, and ArgoCD.
  • Experience with secure IT systems and ATOs compliant with DoD standards.
  • CompTIA Sec certification or other DoD 8570 Certifications.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
