About the position

Quality Assurance Technicians (QA for short) make sure our products meet our safety, quality, and customer standards. QA's need to have strong attention to detail, problem solving, and organizational skills. The position involves testing and inspecting products in various departments at different stages of the production process, compiling and evaluating statistical data to maintain product quality and reliability. The QA Technician will perform continuous checks during production, document QA checks, communicate with operators and supervisors regarding product quality, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Tests and inspects the products in appropriate departments (shipping, mill, packaging) at various stages of the production process.
  • Compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products.
  • Performs QA functions in Shipping, Milling, or Packaging departments by collecting and evaluating production samples.
  • Ensures that materials and products meet acceptable quality and integrity standards.
  • Performs a variety of continuous QA checks during production and on finished goods.
  • Maintains consistent quality standards on all incoming and outgoing paperwork for the product.
  • Documents QA checks per required guidelines accurately and timely.
  • Communicates necessary information to Mill Operators, Machine Operators, Leads and/or Supervisors/Managers regarding product quality and packaging defects.
  • Grades incoming product samples received by truck and rail.
  • Checks weights on inbound rail cars and schedules and releases rail cars as necessary.
  • Pulls and ships outbound samples for customers.
  • Communicates variations in Housekeeping and National Food Safety standards to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.
  • Monitors and completes necessary documentation with grade and lot information.
  • Ensures that all QA documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Maintains daily milling log and communicates with operators of next item to clean.
  • Performs cycle counts to make for proper stock rotation as needed.
  • Checks product from packaging lines every hour and verifies change over schedules.
  • Communicates with management and other maintenance personnel on a timely basis to facilitate maintenance and repairs.
  • Ceases production when serious product defects or risks arise.
  • Complies with company safety policies and maintains clean and orderly work area.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Experience working in quality assurance or quality control.
  • Valid Driver's license in good standing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Basic computer knowledge and use of touch screens.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving skills.
