About the position

The QA Test Analyst (Information Systems Specialist 5) at the Public Employees Retirement System is responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software systems through rigorous testing and troubleshooting. This full-time position involves creating and executing test scripts, performing regression and integration testing, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The role requires advanced skills in testing methodologies and tools, as well as effective communication to report and resolve defects.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain test scripts (manual and/or automated).
  • Perform testing activities to validate software functionality, performance, and security.
  • Conduct regression testing after code changes to ensure existing functionality remains intact.
  • Verify interactions between different components or modules of the software to validate data flow, APIs, and system integrations.
  • Work closely with Release managers, DevOps engineers, Business System Analysts, Product owners, and developers to support SDLC.
  • Investigate test failures and report defects, working closely with developers to resolve issues promptly.
  • Create performance test scripts to assess system responsiveness, scalability, and resource utilization.
  • Maintain and enhance existing test scripts as the application evolves, including updating tests for new features and fixing script-related issues.
  • Document test automation, test scripts, test data, and test environments, and train other team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, business analysts, business product owners, project managers, and other QA team members.

Requirements

  • Four years of information systems experience in Quality Assurance and Test Case development preferably for Pension or Financial Systems, or an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field with two years of experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to influence technical concepts at all levels of an organization.
  • Highly skilled at learning and implementing new technologies.
  • Advanced experience in testing and troubleshooting system technical problems.
  • Experience in creating and managing manual and automated test suites.
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and proficiency with SQL.
  • Knowledge of test methodologies like Agile, V-Model, Behavior Driven Development (BDD), and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience in working with a DevOps CI/CD Pipeline and SDLC.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools and Azure Cloud technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry Certification in Testing.
  • Programming languages and/or scripting knowledge.
  • Knowledge of testing tools like Test Complete, Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins, Appium.
