About the position

As a QA Test Analyst at Nasdaq, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. Your primary responsibilities will include creating, executing, and maintaining tests according to established test scripts and plans. You will be required to test both front-end and back-end software components, applying industry best practices to ensure that our software meets the highest standards. This position involves reviewing system requirements and business processes, coding, testing, and debugging software solutions to identify and resolve issues effectively. In this role, you will report any issues found back to the development, project management, or implementation teams. You may also be tasked with developing and maintaining testing tools that can be utilized by the broader team. Specialization in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Process Improvement may be required, and you will conduct a range of quality control tests and analyses under direct supervision to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and client requirements. You will be responsible for creating test data files with both valid and invalid records to test program logic and verify system flow. As you grow in this position, you will learn to collaborate with internal and external team members to plan various applicable test phases, ensuring that these phases are successfully completed and documented. You will also be coached to develop a plan for problem resolution. Adaptability and a learning mindset are essential in this role, as you will need to demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies. You should be adaptable to changing project requirements and able to work in a dynamic environment. Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python or Java, is crucial, along with knowledge of scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell. Understanding operating systems, databases, and computer networks is also important for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Create, execute, and maintain tests according to test scripts and test plans.
  • Test front-end and back-end software components and apply industry best practices.
  • Review system requirements and business processes; code, test, and debug software solutions.
  • Report issues found back to development and/or project management teams.
  • Develop and maintain testing tools for the broader team.
  • Conduct quality control tests and analyses under direct supervision.
  • Create test data files with valid and invalid records to test program logic and verify system flow.
  • Collaborate with internal or external team members to plan applicable test phases.
  • Administer and maintain the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures and quality audits/review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in software quality assurance, preferably 2 years.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java).
  • Understanding of operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux), databases (e.g., SQL), and computer networks.
  • Familiarity with bug tracking and test case management tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, TestRail).
  • Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of scripting languages like Bash or PowerShell.
  • Experience with quality assurance, quality control, and process improvement methodologies.
