About the position

The z/OS Customer Test group at IBM is seeking an experienced QA tester to ensure the reliability of the z/OS platform technology. This role involves final verification of z/OS releases and System z hardware before they are made available to clients. The QA tester will design and automate test suites, simulate customer-like environments, and collaborate with development teams to enhance the quality of z/OS services.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and automating test suites to ensure reliability of the systemZ and z/OS platform technology.
  • Testing at scale with a client-first mindset to simulate customer-like environments.
  • Creating strategies and scripts to test new features and functionalities.
  • Contributing to and reviewing code for internal and external repositories.
  • Documenting processes (Test plans) and procedures for clarity and reproducibility.
  • Interacting with counterparts in z/OS development teams worldwide.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with software development tools such as Git, IDEs (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ), and version control systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with MLOPs (Machine Learning Ops).
  • Experience with scripting languages and tools (such as JCL, REXX, Unix Shell scripting, PYTHON, and zOSMF Workflows).
  • Familiarity with one or more automation tools or frameworks, such as Ansible or Galasa.
  • Basic understanding of databases, including SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices and tools such as JIRA or Trello.
  • Experience contributing to open-source projects.
