About the position

As a QA Test Engineer at Orion Innovation, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. This position involves both manual and automated testing, where you will design and enhance frameworks used for testing user interfaces (UI) and application programming interfaces (APIs). Your responsibilities will include debugging and troubleshooting issues, identifying root causes, and preparing test data for various services. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Business Analysts (BAs) and Quality Assurance (QA) teams to fully understand business requirements. You will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive test plans and test cases based on these requirements and design specifications. Additionally, you will raise any technical, security, delivery, and performance risks that may arise during the testing process. As part of our commitment to a DevOps culture, you will actively participate in promoting best practices and continuous improvements within our test development practices. Understanding the existing processing architecture will be essential, as you will work on improving and designing automation frameworks that adhere to the latest standards. To succeed in this position, you will need a solid foundation in software testing, with at least three years of experience as a QA or Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET). Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies is essential, as is experience in writing test plans, test cases, and test summary reports. You should have a good understanding of test management tools such as Zephyr, ALM, and X-ray, as well as practical experience with Postman and Soap UI for testing and automating APIs. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary, as you will be working as part of a team to ensure the highest quality of our software products.

Responsibilities

  • Work along with BA and QA to understand business requirements.
  • Create and execute test plans/cases based on requirements and design specifications.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements to the Test development practice.
  • Understand the existing processing architecture.
  • Improve and design frameworks related to automation with newer standards.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a QA/SDET.
  • Well versed with Agile/Scrum terminology.
  • Experience in writing test plans, test cases, and test summary reports.
  • Knowledge and understanding of test management tools like Zephyr, ALM, and X-ray.
  • Postman and Soap UI experience testing and automating APIs.
  • Good understanding of test data preparation/mocking test data.
  • Understanding of frameworks related to automation based on application.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and a team player.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Jira and Scrum.
  • Can-do attitude with incident resolution/troubleshooting.
  • Practical experience with end-to-end testing.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience with DevOps CI/CD pipeline including Azure, AWS, Jenkins, Maven, GitLab.
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and/or Behavior-Driven Development (BDD).
  • Good to have mainframe experience (navigating and understanding green screen, lookup fields).
  • Knowledge of mainframe VSAM lookup and JCL jobs.
  • Java, Cucumber & Selenium experience.
