About the position

The QA Tester position is a contract role focused on developing and executing functional test cases to ensure that software solutions meet project requirements and function correctly. The role involves working within Agile Sprints, testing enterprise-level reports, and ensuring data accuracy from the data warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute functional test scenarios and tests using user stories in Agile Sprints.
• Test enterprise-level reports generated from the Data Warehouse via Cognos for accuracy and completeness.
• Review project requirements to ensure they are testable.
• Provide estimates on the time needed to complete testing tasks within a sprint.
• Facilitate test case review sessions with Agile team members.
• Track test execution results within HP ALM/Quality Center.
• Utilize HP ALM for tracking defects found during testing.

Requirements

• Strong analytical skills to translate project requirements into appropriate test cases.
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to create complex queries for data validation.
• Experience testing in large data warehouse projects.
• Experience with enterprise reporting tools such as Cognos and Crystal Reports.
• Experience tracking and resolving issues encountered during testing.
• Experience working as part of an Agile Development team.
• Software test experience in developing test plans, test cases, and creating scripts.
• Testing experience in a large-scale relational database environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with HP ALM/Quality Center for test management.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
• High degree of people skills including relationship building.
• Exposure to the insurance industry, especially in Property and Casualty Insurance.
