About the position

The QA Tester position at Connvertex Technologies is a critical role that requires a strong background in quality assurance, particularly within the Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing software test cases based on project requirements and technical designs. This role demands a meticulous approach to planning test schedules and strategies that align with project scope and delivery timelines. The QA Tester will document test cases, results, and defects using MicroFocus Quality Center/ALM, ensuring that all testing activities are well-documented and communicated effectively to stakeholders. In addition to executing test cases, the QA Tester will create and manage test data, including data for automated scripts where applicable. The role also involves documenting and communicating project quality throughout the testing process, including readiness for release, using standard test processes and status reporting templates. The QA Tester will provide valuable feedback and recommendations to developers regarding software usability and functionality, contributing to the overall improvement of the product. Furthermore, the QA Tester will support the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) phase by sharing test information and creating test data for UAT team members, utilizing automated processes to streamline this phase. This position requires a proactive individual who can work independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve common goals, demonstrating strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and influencing skills. A mindset focused on process improvement is essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute software test cases based on project requirements and technical design.
  • Plan test schedules and strategies in accordance with project scope and delivery dates.
  • Document test cases, results, and defects utilizing MicroFocus Quality Center/ALM.
  • Create and manage test data, including data for use by automated scripts where applicable.
  • Document and communicate project quality over the course of testing, including readiness for release using standard test processes and status reporting templates.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality.
  • Support User Acceptance Test (UAT) phase through test information sharing and test data creation for UAT team members.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of testing experience in Property & Casualty Insurance.
  • 10 years of IT experience.
  • Experience with Quality Center/ALM for requirements, test case, and defect management.
  • Data testing experience including writing SQL and working with XML files.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team to accomplish a common goal.
  • Self-starter with strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and influencing skills.
  • A process improvement mindset.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to Property & Casualty Insurance is a plus.
