About the position

The QA Tester at Yamaha Guitar Group will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and performance of electric guitar and bass products. This position involves collaborating with development staff, including project leads, engineers, product owners, and UX designers, to maintain high standards of quality while meeting project deadlines. The role is hybrid, based in Calabasas, CA, and includes executing test plans, reporting defects, and assisting in documentation development.

Responsibilities

• Execute test plans and matrices, providing detailed reporting and record-keeping.
• Perform ad-hoc testing to identify bugs by simulating real-world user paths.
• Enter and maintain the current status of defects in bug databases, including verification of fixes and regression tests.
• Support and attend bug reviews, aiding in pre-review streamlining of supporting data.
• Assist with developing user and developer documentation, including procedures, FAQs, and tutorials.
• Engage in direct and frequent interaction with project leads, engineers, product owners, and UX designers.
• Provide contact and support for customer support and service.

Requirements

• Experience with Line 6 or competing MI and Pro Audio hardware and software, including amp modelers, multi-effects, wireless systems, and plug-ins.
• Comprehensive understanding of MIDI and its applications.
• Ability to work flexible hours, multitask, and prioritize effectively.
• Strong communication skills to interact with a diverse range of individuals and evaluate situations quickly.
• Expertise in PC & Mac OS, including mastery of hardware/software configurations, LAN, and KVM setup/maintenance.
• Software and hardware testing experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with bug tracking platforms such as JIRA or Bugzilla.
• Familiarity with online collaboration tools such as Google G-Suite and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of several Digital Audio Workstations (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase, etc.).
