About the position

The QCS Application Engineer at ABB is responsible for acting as a design authority within an engineering discipline of low to medium complexity. This role involves completing assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects efficiently while applying design thinking and engineering standards. The engineer will provide technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities, and assist in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
• Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
• Assisting in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects.
• Utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical) or Paper/Computer Science required.
• 4+ years of QCS application experience in the Pulp and Paper industry required.
• Fluent in written and verbal English; Spanish is a plus.
• Experience working with any Distributed Control Systems.
• Experience working with any PLC equipment.
• Previous Industrial Automation Experience is a plus.
• VMWare vSphere knowledge preferred.
• Networking knowledge is required.
• Experience working with Function Blocks, Structured Text, Ladder Logic preferred.
• Experience installing and configuring Windows Server Operating Systems, Windows Workstation operating systems, and active directory preferred.
• Experience configuring networks and switches including VLANs preferred.
• Experience troubleshooting networks and using network troubleshooting tools preferred.
• Experience configuring storage hardware preferred.
• Using Visual Studio, specifically C#.

• Experience with VMWare Workstation.
