About the position

The QCS Application Engineer at ABB plays a crucial role in addressing global challenges through engineering solutions in the Pulp and Paper industry. This position involves acting as a design authority for engineering disciplines of low to medium complexity, contributing to small projects or segments of larger projects while ensuring cost-effectiveness. The engineer will apply design thinking principles and provide technical support for various engineering activities, showcasing their expertise in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating, selecting, and applying standard techniques and procedures to perform engineering assignments.
  • Providing technical support for testing, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Assisting in preparing proposals and presentations for engineering projects.
  • Utilizing checklists to perform design verification according to applicable standards and engineering guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical) or Paper/Computer Science required.
  • 4+ years of QCS application experience in the Pulp and Paper industry required.
  • Fluent in written and verbal English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Experience working with any Distributed Control Systems.
  • Experience working with any PLC equipment.
  • Previous Industrial Automation Experience is a plus.
  • VMWare vSphere knowledge preferred.
  • Networking knowledge required.
  • Experience working with Function Blocks, Structured Text, Ladder Logic preferred.
  • Experience installing and configuring Windows Server Operating Systems and Windows Workstation operating systems preferred.
  • Experience configuring networks and switches including VLANs preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting networks and using network troubleshooting tools preferred.
  • Experience configuring storage hardware preferred.
  • Using Visual Studio, specifically C#.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with VMWare Workstation.
  • Experience with active directory configuration.
