About the position

The Automation QA Engineer will join a Retail Innovation Tech lab in Dallas, TX, focusing on testing an Operations Yearly Inventory application that is in the early stages of programming and testing. The role involves collaborating with the engineering development team to ensure quality through functional and automation testing, acting as the quality gatekeeper, and maintaining quality metrics for applications and projects.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the engineering development team on front and backend functional and automation testing.
• Analyze business and functional requirements, write test plans, estimate QA efforts, and develop test strategies and scenarios.
• Execute test cases and report defects using JIRA, enhancing communication and resolution efficiency throughout the bug life cycle.
• Work with existing testing frameworks and create new testing frameworks for mobile, API, and cloud-based application systems.
• Maintain quality metrics for applications, projects, and operations.
• Implement CI pipeline and deploy applications with continuous deployment using Git-ops and Jenkins.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science with 8 years of experience in software engineering or Master of Science with 5 years of experience in software engineering.
• 5+ years of testing and automation experience from both front-end and back-end perspectives.
• Significant experience with testing web and mobile applications using tools like Jest, Selenium, and Appium with Cucumber and Mocha Framework.
• In-depth knowledge of Typescript, Java 11, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JPA, JUnit, TestNG, Rest Assured, and Spring Boot IT Tests.
• Strong knowledge of testing fundamentals such as Page Object Modeling, BDD, and TDD.
• Ability to develop functional, technical, and user-based test cases using reporting tools like Jira Xray, Allure, and Report NG.
• Deep expertise in database query-based testing with knowledge of MS SQL, MySQL, Cosmos, and DBeaver.
• Experience partnering with developers and support teams to resolve bugs and post-production issues quickly.
• Excellent analytical, design, decision-making, and communication skills to discuss testing strategies with business and product teams.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for deployments.
• Experience with public cloud platforms like Azure and GCP.
• Previous experience working with a distributed team.
