About the position

The Med Care Manager/QMAP at MorningStar Senior Living is responsible for administering and documenting prescribed medications to residents under the direction of the Wellness Director. This role emphasizes the importance of a transformative culture and servant-leadership, aiming to provide compassionate care to residents while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and document regularly prescribed medications per the Medication Administration record observing the five rights for safe administering of meds and per physician orders.
  • Order medications from the pharmacy when prescribed, ensuring they arrive on time and notifying the Wellness Director of any issues.
  • Document medications given immediately after administration in the resident's medical record.
  • Observe and report reactions and side effects of medications to the licensed nurse.
  • Take and record vital signs prior to administering medications that could affect them as ordered by the Physician or Wellness Director.
  • Administer PRN medications as per physician order.
  • Report any medication errors to the Wellness Director immediately.
  • Assist with the development and review of the resident's care plan in conjunction with other disciplines.
  • Ensure residents' privacy, respect, and dignity.
  • Detect, correct, and report unsafe conditions that may result in harm to a resident.

Requirements

  • Must be a qualified medication administration personnel (QMAP) with relevant certifications.
  • Experience in a senior living or healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with residents and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Knowledge of geriatric care and medication management.
