About the position

The QMAP (Qualified Medication Administration Personnel) position at MorningStar Senior Living involves administering and documenting prescribed medications for residents under the supervision of the Wellness Director. This role is crucial in ensuring the health and well-being of residents by adhering to medication administration protocols and providing compassionate care. The position emphasizes a culture of servant-leadership and aims to create a supportive environment for both residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and document regularly prescribed medications per the Medication Administration record.
  • Order medications from the pharmacy as prescribed, ensuring timely availability for residents.
  • Document medications given immediately after administration in the resident's medical record.
  • Take and record vital signs prior to administering medications that may affect them.
  • Administer PRN medications as per physician orders.
  • Report any medication errors to the Wellness Director immediately.
  • Assist in the development and review of resident care plans in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Ensure residents' privacy, respect, and dignity are maintained.
  • Detect, correct, and report unsafe conditions that may harm residents.
  • Assist with daily care tasks such as toileting, grooming, bathing, and feeding.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of state-approved Medication Administration training.
  • First Aid certification as required by ALF regulations.
  • QMAP certification in the state of Colorado.
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferably some previous experience in healthcare, particularly in Assisted Living or Memory Care settings.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Good communication skills in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum three years' experience in senior living preferred.
  • Previous experience with an Assisted Living community.
