About the position

The Repair Supervisor at Transco Railway Products, Inc. is responsible for overseeing repair activities, ensuring quality and efficiency in railcar maintenance. This role involves leading hourly employees, maintaining safety standards, and supporting compliance with regulatory requirements. The supervisor will also participate in process improvements, inventory control, and employee training, contributing to the overall success of the repair department.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, motivate and lead hourly employees in all repair activities.
  • Ensure safe working habits and conditions by training and reviewing employee work areas.
  • Support Quality Assurance efforts by ensuring compliance with OSHA, AAR, FRA, and company regulations.
  • Make recommendations for continual process improvements while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and collaborate with the Material Manager for proper inventory control.
  • Participate in employee interviews, orientation training, and performance evaluations.
  • Engage in internal, external, and customer audits regarding the department.
  • Document and submit corrective discipline as needed.
  • Participate in daily Production Meetings to provide status updates on rail cars in process.
  • Direct subordinates' daily activities and maintain their job cards.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience within rail car inspections, testing, and repair preferred.
  • Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration regulations and Association of American Railroads Interchange Rules.
  • Ability to read prints and drawings, including weld and nondestructive testing symbols.
