About the position

The Quality Analyst 2 position at Garmin International involves leading quality assurance activities for complex features within Garmin's marine consumer products and software. The role requires collaboration in a team-oriented environment, focusing on ensuring high-quality deliverables throughout the Software Development Life Cycle and Product Development Life Cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the role of quality assurance in each phase of the Software Development Life Cycle and/or Product Development Life Cycle.
  • Provide feedback to design and development communities to help improve the quality of deliverables.
  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts and/or procedures of moderate-to-significant complexity, in accordance with established Garmin test procedures.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer in product design reviews to provide input on functional requirements, product designs, schedules, or potential problems.
  • Conduct usability tests and communicate results to product owners.
  • Document defects in defect management system and report defects to developers.
  • Collect and analyze test results and beta user feedback, and communicate with internal customers and product owners.
  • Communicate product and/or project status to internal customers, product owners and management.
  • Investigate and verify issues reported to quality assurance for validity and reproducibility.
  • Perform defect analysis to find related defects and to improve test coverage.
  • Proactively identify gaps in the processes and provide effective suggestions in advance of issues.
  • Verify software modifications in new software versions to prepare for implementation.
  • Assist in test case maintenance as necessary to keep repository current.
  • Define, document and implement new process improvements.
  • Train and mentor new quality assurance associates.
  • Understand and apply detailed knowledge of Garmin quality assurance processes and procedures.
  • Participate and assist with the coordination of release deployments.
  • Perform system analysis techniques and procedures to determine software functional specifications for Garmin products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree OR a minimum of 4 years equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule).
  • Relevant experience or training in product and/or software quality assurance processes and methodologies.
  • Superior organizational/analytical skills, detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5).
  • Previous experience testing and developing/analyzing tests related to a Garmin core product market.
  • Relevant experience or training in creating test plans, conducting usability tests, and/or writing test scripts.
  • Experience or interest in working with marine electronics.
