About the position

The Quality & Safety Data Analyst plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care by utilizing strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. This position focuses on coordinating and facilitating initiatives that improve quality, safety, and efficiency across the healthcare continuum. The analyst will perform system administration functions and data analysis on quality software applications, interpret quality measures, and collaborate with clinical staff to implement performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze quality, safety, and patient experience data, performing statistical analyses and summarizing findings.
  • Manage vendor platforms to ensure data integrity and availability, ensuring consistency of data sent to platforms like Press Ganey and Vizient.
  • Validate data for integrity and consistency across multiple reports and data sources, identifying problems and their significance.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize systems (Epic and others) for improved data reporting accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develop and optimize data extracts, transmissions, and transformations for importing and exporting data from various systems.
  • Create data displays and reports for quality, safety, and patient experience measures for meetings and presentations.
  • Collaborate with local partners to create data exports and maintain data displays in Epic and business intelligence programs like PowerBI.
  • Provide data and predictive models to assist in anticipating outcomes on pay-for-performance and reputational metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Computer Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health, or Business Administration preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience, including 2 years in a related field, particularly in data analytics within a healthcare setting.
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with visualization software (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau).
  • Experience with Epic software and analytic tools, including report and dashboard development.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and web-based applications.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business intelligence software, such as PowerBI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of programming with SQL databases.
