About the position

As a Quality Assurance Engineer at Guidehouse, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our product software and infrastructure prior to launch. Your primary responsibility will be to create comprehensive tests that identify potential issues, thereby enhancing the overall user experience. You will be involved in developing test strategies and plans, executing tests, and automating testing processes. This position requires a proactive approach to tracking and reporting software defects, conducting root cause analysis, and maintaining thorough documentation of tests and results. You will support testing activities throughout the entire software development lifecycle, which includes integration, system, performance, regression, user acceptance, disaster recovery, and end-to-end testing. A significant aspect of your role will be to lead efforts in automating testing activities and integrating these automations into our CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring that our testing methodologies are robust and effective, ultimately contributing to the success of our software products. In this hands-on position, you will be expected to proficiently plan, automate, and execute testing strategies specifically for AWS cloud infrastructure services and application workloads. You will collaborate closely with the Product Development team to ensure consistent project execution and identify any quality assurance process bottlenecks, suggesting actionable improvements. Your ability to prepare and present quality assurance reports and communicate status updates will be vital in maintaining transparency and alignment with project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Create tests that identify issues with product software and infrastructure prior to launch.
  • Develop test strategies and plans, including test and test data development.
  • Execute tests and automate testing processes.
  • Track and report software defects and facilitate defect resolution.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of identified defects.
  • Maintain test and test result documentation.
  • Support testing activities across the entire software development lifecycle, including integration, system, performance, regression, user acceptance, disaster recovery, and end-to-end testing.
  • Lead efforts to automate testing activities and integrate test automations into CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or additional four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a quality assurance or testing role supporting enterprise computing platforms and system development efforts.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing quality assurance and testing support for workloads that deploy on AWS.
  • Ability to perform manual and automated testing, documentation, and validation of issues reported by end users.
  • Experience planning and tracking tests, test results, and defects in Jira, and proficiently performing application testing using Selenium and Apache JMeter.
  • Proven ability to work remotely and collaborate with team members to solve complex technical problems.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, good time-management skills, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to test software products and cloud infrastructure configurations, identify deficiencies, and suggest solutions.
  • Experience with Agile and Scaled Agile practices and principles.

Nice-to-haves

  • AWS Certified Developer certification.
  • AWS Certified Solution Architect certification.
  • Experience with Python/Django web-based applications.
  • Experience conducting penetration and load testing on the AWS Cloud.
  • Experience with the Protractor end-to-end test framework.
  • Experience configuring monitoring and alerting in Sentry.
  • Knowledge of 508 testing standards and requirements.
