About the position

The Quality Assurance Consultant will be responsible for overseeing and conducting quality assurance activities for IT projects, ensuring that applications meet business requirements and quality standards. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including developers and business analysts, to validate IT processes and enhance the quality of software products throughout their development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality review walkthroughs of business requirements documentation.
  • Collaborate with vendors and SMEs on unit testing.
  • Act as a senior Quality Assurance technical resource on project teams to oversee all Quality Assurance test plans, cases, and scripts.
  • Interact with Developers, User Groups, Business Analysts, System Administrators, SMEs, and other project team members.
  • Apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate IT processes through careful testing.
  • Develop and establish quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications and enhancements.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives addressing existing and potential trouble areas in IT systems.
  • Conduct internal audits to measure adherence to established Quality Assurance standards.
  • Design and execute manual test plans, cases, and scripts for integrated systems and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop, maintain, execute, and present test plans to rigorously test product functionality.
  • Ensure testing activities allow applications to meet business requirements and identify potential issues.
  • Collaborate with software/systems personnel in application testing methods.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of applications to programmers and developers.
  • Communicate test progress, results, and relevant information to stakeholders.
  • Test new software to ensure integration meets functional requirements and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain defect management processes.
  • Analyze formal test results to report defects, bugs, and configuration issues.
  • Perform bug fix verification and validation, including monitoring and tracking issues.
  • Assist in the development of change control processes for new and existing technologies.
  • Participate in developing end-user reviews for modified and new systems.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices.
  • Verify and revise quality assurance standards as needed.
  • Provide quality management for information systems using standard methodologies and metrics.
  • Establish capable processes for monitoring and control of critical processes and product mechanisms.
  • Provide strategic quality plans in targeted areas of the organization.
  • Develop and implement life cycle and QA methodologies and metrics.

Requirements

  • Certified Software Tester (CSTE), Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA), or equivalent certification.
  • At least four (4) years of experience with manual functional/regression testing, design, and execution.
  • At least five (5) years of experience working with quality control methods and tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated testing tools.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
