About the position

The Quality Assurance Electrical Test Engineer at Proterial Cable America, Inc. plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of specialty products through rigorous electrical testing and troubleshooting. This position is centered around optimizing existing testing methodologies and enhancing the overall quality assurance processes. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing failed data, providing corrective actions, and collaborating closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to verify and optimize quality testing protocols. The goal is to improve first pass test yields and reduce variations in testing results. In this role, the QA Engineer will engage in continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on electrical testing and statistical analysis. They will be tasked with mentoring and training Quality Control (QC) technicians on electrical test attributes and processes, ensuring that the team is well-equipped to maintain high standards of quality. The engineer will also be responsible for developing new testing methods or software programs that enhance testing methodologies, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the quality assurance function. The position requires the creation and maintenance of quality documentation and test results in accordance with defined procedures. The QA Engineer will review and recommend the disposition of non-conforming materials through the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process and will respond to Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) related to quality nonconformances and customer complaints. Additionally, the engineer will conduct manufacturing quality audits to ensure that processes are in control and that test yields meet the required standards. They will also assist in resolving supplier issues and addressing customer complaints, making this role integral to the company's commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical testing and verification of results.
  • Mentor and train QC technicians on electrical test attributes and processes.
  • Continuously improve test equipment capabilities and measurement adequacy with GR&R studies.
  • Develop new testing methods or software programs to improve test methodologies.
  • Create and maintain quality documentation and test results per defined procedures.
  • Review and recommend disposition of non-conforming material through RMA process.
  • Respond to CAPA / SCAR supplier quality nonconformances and customer complaints.
  • Perform manufacturing quality audits to ensure processes are in control and test yield is adequate.
  • Assist in supplier issues and customer complaints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in electrical testing and quality assurance processes.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel and Access for test template optimization.
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff members.
