About the position
The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for maintaining tactical aircraft and support equipment, performing inspections, and supervising maintenance functions. This role involves troubleshooting aircraft systems, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with maintenance directives. The inspector plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and operational readiness of aircraft by overseeing maintenance activities and coordinating schedules.
Responsibilities
- Services aircraft by performing end-of-runway, ground handling postflight, preflight, thru-flight, special inspections, and phase inspections.
- Troubleshoots and maintains aircraft engines, hydraulic systems, and other related components.
- Inspects aircraft structures, engines, systems, and components, interpreting findings and determining corrective actions.
- Coordinates maintenance plans and schedules to meet operational commitments, supervising aircraft launch and recovery operations.
- Reviews maintenance data collection summaries to determine trends and production effectiveness.
Requirements
- Mandatory knowledge of aircraft systems, flight theory, hydraulic principles, and electrical theory.
- Completion of high school courses in physics, pneudraulics, and electronics is desirable.
- Completion of a suffix specific basic aircraft maintenance course is mandatory for AFSC 2A333X.
- Experience in repairing and maintaining aircraft or related installed equipment is required for AFSC 2A353X.
- Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in supervisory roles within aircraft maintenance.
- Familiarity with Air Force supply and deficiency reporting procedures.
