About the position

The Quality Assurance Manager at Amcor is responsible for ensuring that all manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and quality requirements. This leadership role involves managing the quality department, overseeing compliance with federal regulations, and implementing quality management systems to enhance operational efficiency. The manager will also engage with customers regarding product quality and performance, driving continuous improvement initiatives within the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all manufactured products meet or exceed customer expectations and ARP Quality requirements.
  • Lead and manage the quality department in compliance with federal regulations and Amcor standards.
  • Supervise inspection, laboratory testing, auditing, and process control activities within the plant.
  • Implement and maintain the plant's quality management system to improve business operations.
  • Oversee validations of new products and qualifications on plant equipment.
  • Conduct statistical process control and corrective action with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding quality and product performance issues.
  • Coordinate objectives with production procedures to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.
  • Inspect incoming materials and finished goods to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Establish and monitor statistical process control (SPC) programs and advise local managers on their utilization.
  • Analyze quality control test results and provide feedback to production management.
  • Manage a team of direct reports, focusing on employee selection, development, and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of quality management experience, preferably in plastic packaging.
  • Professional Accreditation in Quality Engineering and Systems required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and Process Capability.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems, food safety programs, and GMP standards.
  • Experience in designing and implementing advanced Quality Management Systems preferred.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, Statistical Analysis, and Process/Product Control software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with plastics and/or packaging in a high-speed production environment.
  • Professional development in Six Sigma or involvement in professional societies.
