About the position

The Quality Assurance Program Manager at the Texas Workforce Commission is responsible for managing the Project Quality Assurance (QA) Program within the Applications Solutions Department. This role involves creating, developing, coordinating, implementing, overseeing, and executing a QA program for various projects, ensuring compliance with IT policies and methodologies. The position requires collaboration with IT directors and project managers to enhance project performance and elevate the skills of project managers within the department.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Project Quality Assurance (QA) Program for the Applications Solutions Department.
• Create and implement guidelines, policies, and procedures for project management.
• Conduct independent assessments of projects for compliance with IT policies and procedures.
• Coach and mentor project managers on effective execution of QA practices.
• Collaborate with IT directors to implement corrective actions and improve project performance.
• Prepare reports and dashboards on project compliance and performance for senior management.
• Support succession planning and ensure business continuity within the department.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in project management, Information Management, Business Analysis, or a related field.
• 8 years of IT project management and/or project quality assurance experience, including 5 years in project management over solutions engineering projects and 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience with industry-standard project management methodologies and SDLC.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or formal project management training.
• Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM) certification.
• Knowledge of Texas Workforce Commission programs.
