About the position

The Quality Assurance Specialist - Calibration at Bray International, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measuring instruments used in the industrial valve and actuator manufacturing process. This role involves calibrating a variety of instruments, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining documentation to meet customer and engineering specifications. The specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with technicians, management, and external vendors to uphold quality standards and improve processes.

Responsibilities

  • Calibrating a wide range of measuring instruments, including pressure gauges, pressure transducers, torque wrenches, and dimensional measuring devices.
  • Following established calibration procedures and using specialized equipment to perform calibrations.
  • Troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting units using schematics and repair manuals.
  • Collecting, compiling, measuring, summarizing, and recording data gathered during calibrations to prepare reports and certificates.
  • Interacting with technicians, management, internal customers, equipment manufacturers, and vendors.
  • Subcontracting instrumentation that is not calibrated in-house and tracking tools requiring special repair/calibration by external vendors.
  • Scheduling on-site and off-site calibrations, creating service contracts, and maintaining documentation for continued certification of external calibration laboratories.
  • Documenting calibration results and maintaining accurate records.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting calibration issues while monitoring and performing routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Providing technical support to the team regarding damaged or outdated equipment and recommending upgrades when necessary.
  • Following documented company procedures and standards and performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher in engineering or relevant technical field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in calibration or a similar technical role.
  • Experience using and calibrating precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and dial indicators.
  • Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to read and interpret standard English documentation, engineering drawings, and measurement requirements.
  • Familiarity with GageTrak 7.0 software preferred.
  • Six Sigma training preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the industrial manufacturing environment in a quality control area.
  • ISO 9001-2008/2015 & API experience.
  • Positive/proactive leadership skills.
