About the position

The Quality Assurance Specialist at Innophos is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving the Quality Assurance Process at the Chicago Heights manufacturing site. This role focuses on ensuring that the site meets or exceeds customer requirements from a quality and regulatory standpoint, with an emphasis on training, compliance, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in training New Hires in the plant in Quality and Food Safety topics
  • Assist in annual training of all employees at the site(s) for cGMP and Food Safety related topics
  • Responsible for Quality Batch Review of all Calcium Phosphates Process Control (Process Data, IPT, Historian), Production Batch record review
  • Set up Plant Review Board Meetings as necessary to address Process Deviations
  • Responsible for Batch Record review for Calcium Phosphates packaged at Toll Packers (Arro, PacMoore, PST and SprayTek)
  • Provide Log sheets (consecutively numbered) to Calciums unit
  • Responsible for empty bag verifications and protocols/forms (70+ bags)
  • Primary contact for Pest Control service and managing Weed control at the site(s)
  • Primary contact for GMP related Work Orders
  • Prepare file for BCER and RACE Quality Reviews
  • Prepare all Food Safety Plans (currently 19) including conducting and work with QA Manager to conduct annual review meetings
  • Manage Environmental Monitoring Program & Potable Water Monitoring (work with DonLevy on scheduling)
  • Maintain Vulnerability Assessments for Raw Materials
  • Work with QA Manager to prepare and maintain Food Defense plans (both sites)
  • Deliver SQCPack/Chartrunner support to Engineers
  • Provide statistics for Complaint investigations, RFT, CpK's and MOC's
  • Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols
  • Provides support for all safety and environmental initiatives
  • Proactively attempts to prevent all accidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions
  • Demonstrates management's commitment to safety

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering or scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred
  • 3 or more years of experience in Quality related functions or Continuous Improvement disciplines
  • Training in Auditing Skills (such as Lead Auditor training in ISO 9001 and or GFSI Auditor training)
  • Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Training required
  • Food Defense Training required
  • Working Knowledge of EtQ, JDE, LIMS, SQCPack/Chartrunner or other SPC Package and all Microsoft Office products required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
