About the position

The Quality Assurance Specialist (Shipbuilding) will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and monitoring of data analysis within the Quality Engineering Branch at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. This role involves developing validation systems to ensure quality data is accurately reviewed and categorized, maintaining the Quality Performance Index process, and preparing analysis reports to identify quality problems and trends. The specialist will also support other shipyard shops in metric development and ensure the Quality Performance System provides real-time data to project managers.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and monitor the data analysis area.
  • Develop and perform a validation system for quality data.
  • Maintain the non-nuclear Quality Performance Index (QPI) process.
  • Prepare analysis reports depicting quality problems and trends.
  • Provide support on metric development and use of the quality performance system.
  • Ensure the Quality Performance System provides real-time data to process owners.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
  • Experience understanding quality control requirements in ship repair and overhaul work.
  • Experience presenting and reporting quality problems and developing metrics.
  • Experience applying quality assurance principles and investigative methods.
  • Experience with database management to ensure data integrity.
  • Experience applying engineering concepts related to ship components and systems.
  • Experience in problem identification, analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical analysis and systems evaluation.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
