About the position

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for planning, managing, and directing quality control programs and the quality team to ensure the continuous production of products that meet established standards. This role involves overseeing the Quality Assurance Technicians, conducting inspections, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with USDA regulations. The supervisor plays a key leadership role in quality assurance meetings and collaborates with various departments to maintain product quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Quality Assurance Programs to ensure adherence to written programs and prerequisite programs.
  • Oversee daily reviews of Quality Assurance Technicians' documentation for production lines.
  • Participate in weekly QA meetings to discuss concerns and issues.
  • Manage inspections of incoming raw materials and audit documentation.
  • Maintain and update cooked product specifications and control copies.
  • Collaborate with FSQ Manager and Food Safety Coordinator on monitoring GMP practices.
  • Stay current with USDA regulations relevant to operations.
  • Manage relationships with USDA Inspection personnel.
  • Conduct pre-operational and operational inspections as needed.
  • Handle Quality Incident Reports and conduct root cause analysis for complaints.
  • Manage metal detectors in production and maintain logs of settings.
  • Supervise training of new QA Technicians and maintain training documentation.
  • Review QA Technicians' performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct shelf life tests for cooked items as necessary.
  • Investigate customer-related inquiries and complaints with management support.
  • Assist in the rollout of new products during initial production runs.
  • Prepare QA documentation for third-party audits.
  • Review finished products on an ongoing basis.
  • Resolve QA issues satisfactorily.
  • Maintain raw supplier audit information and track quality issues.
  • Serve as backup for FSQ Manager and HACCP/Food Safety Coordinator.
  • Maintain bar coding/check weigh scales and assist with new processes.
  • Conduct GMP and Safety training and audits.
  • Manage product hold processes.
  • Enhance product specifications with digital media for training purposes.
  • Implement SPC, 6 Sigma, and other quality tools at the facility.
  • Perform marinade formula checks.
  • Assist with the Bio-terrorism/security program for the facility.
  • Model company values to enhance employee morale.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Experience in quality assurance in a food production environment.
  • Knowledge of USDA regulations and quality control processes.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to conduct training and performance reviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SPC and 6 Sigma methodologies.
  • Familiarity with HACCP principles.
  • Background in food safety and quality assurance.
