About the position

The Quality Assurance Technician position is located in Saratoga Springs, NY, and involves performing various tests and inspections to ensure product quality and safety in a food and beverage processing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tests to analyze water samples, including pH, conductivity, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, and temperature.
  • Conduct online inspection, sanitation, and cleaning activities.
  • Use various types of test equipment in both production and laboratory settings.
  • Communicate with production technicians and leaders to troubleshoot quality issues.
  • Verify quality checks for line operators as part of the Release Program.
  • Support sanitation activities, line start-ups, and factory projects.
  • Manage items requiring quality hold including non-conforming goods.
  • Support QMS, HACCP, GMP, ICP, micro, sensory and Release Programs, including sample collection and analysis.
  • Manage documentation and organize information for auditing.
  • Develop SOPs and standards related to food safety and quality.
  • Utilize problem-solving tools to support continuous improvement.
  • Support food safety and quality training across multiple operational functions.

Requirements

  • College level education desired, relevant pursuit of study in a related area a plus.
  • Prior experience performing basic laboratory procedures.
  • Exposure to Quality Assurance or Production in a food or beverage processing facility is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work self-directed and with a team.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills with experience working in a team-based environment.
  • Experience with sanitation and microbiological control systems.
  • Familiarity with food safety and food defense requirements, audit and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to interact with various internal contacts to manage the flow of work.
  • Exposure to Fluid processing and the principles of sanitation science.
  • Understanding of good manufacturing practices and HACCP principles.
  • Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft applications, SAP experience a plus.
  • Focus on safe work practices and high quality while executing duties with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make independent decisions related to quality and operation excellence.
  • Ability to move/lift 50 lbs and stand on your feet for long periods of time.
