About the position

The Quality Casting Engineer Intern position at Amsted Rail offers a unique opportunity for students pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Engineering Management with an Industrial Engineering focus. The intern will engage in hands-on experience within the green sand foundry process, addressing technical issues related to product quality, metrology, and non-destructive testing while managing product throughput. This role is designed for part-time work while attending school, allowing students to apply their creativity and project management skills in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical issues relating to product quality, metrology, and non-destructive testing.
  • Manage throughput of products in the casting quality-engineering group.
  • Tackle one ongoing major project alongside daily tasks within the team.
  • Apply creativity and vision to improve the green sand foundry process.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or Engineering Management with an Industrial Engineering focus.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work from written or verbal instructions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with CAD software.
