About the position

The Quality Control Analyst II at Ion Storage Systems plays a crucial role in the battery manufacturing lab, focusing on analytical diagnostics for ceramic production and incoming materials. This position requires a strong foundation in analytical techniques and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the precision and quality of battery production through collaboration and effective communication across departments.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently operate a range of analytical instrumentation, including X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) Analyzer, Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Gas Pycnometry, Keyence 3D Optical Profilometer, and Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), while adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Skillfully compile and analyze analytical data, and promptly identify out-of-spec samples that do not meet our stringent quality standards.
  • Ensure highly efficient work habits to maintain swift sample analysis turnaround times.
  • Diligently document lab samples in internal databases, meticulously tracking testing progress to completion.
  • Maintain optimal sample organization for seamless lab use.
  • Report any inconsistencies, malfunctions, or variations in samples.
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate across departments for sample scheduling, equipment utilization, and testing methods.
  • Actively contribute to validation, calibration, Gauge R&Rs, and process optimization efforts.
  • Support instrument maintenance, as necessary.
  • Aid in material management.
  • Support in-depth evaluations of new products, materials, and processes.
  • Assist in R&D and/or Engineering exploration work.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Lab Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe lab environment.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Science/Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably Quality Control
  • 2+ years of experience in creation, revision, optimization, and execution of SOPs
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask while maintaining efficiency
  • Advanced knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols
  • A proven track record of success in lab environments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis and statistical methods
  • Ability to trend data, maintain document control, and exhibit exceptional technical bench skills
  • Adept at problem-solving, training, team building, and mentoring
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
