About the position

As a Quality Control Inspector - Assembler at Epiroc, you will be responsible for identifying, correcting, and preventing quality defects in purchased materials. This role involves participating in design reviews, FMEA's, and product improvement initiatives, as well as conducting assembly operations on drilling rigs. The position requires a strong focus on quality-related duties and adherence to safety regulations in a dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for internal and external defect prevention.
  • Verify product conformances based on visual inspection, dimensional measurement, and performance measurement.
  • Perform all duties related to Quality, including participation in design reviews, FMEA's, product improvement teams, internal audit teams, or other efforts used to prevent non-conformance or to develop corrective action.
  • Function within the guidelines of the latest issue of the Quality Management System Procedure Manual and Quality Work Instruction.
  • Document and recommend verification of product conformance, evaluation of manufacturing processes and engineering design to identify root causes of non-conformance.
  • Interact with all inspection areas to identify and prevent recurrence of non-conforming material.
  • Operate coordinate measuring equipment to measure dimensions and parts by performing inspections.
  • Understand product requirements, product specifications, and applicable reference standards.
  • Evaluate product requirements and recommend changes when applicable.
  • Detect and report defective materials, faulty operation, and unusual conditions.
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations/guidelines.
  • Complete appropriate documentation for rejected parts.
  • Interact with suppliers and purchasing to explain defects and to improve quality of material delivered.
  • Assemble values, piping radiator, STB lights, rod supports, set fields, regulator, carriage sheave assembly.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the assembly area.
  • Perform on-site supplier visits for inspection and corrective action issues as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Trade school diploma with 2+ years of experience in a Quality inspector role in supply chain environment.
  • 1-2 years assembler experience working in carriage sheave assembly.
  • 1-5 years' experience in quality role with experience in product conformances, the ability to identify root causes and prove process improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of product requirements, and product specifications with the ability to evaluate product requirements and recommend changes when needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative and problem-solving to define and create tooling, fixturing, and equipment needed to increase the efficiency of inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with needed areas and ensure direction is given when needed.
  • Required to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Must be able to work with minimum level of supervision.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with the internal organization and suppliers to come up with proposals to further improve quality or efficiency to produce high-quality parts.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Requires strong writing, administrative and analysis skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of receiving and production processes, and Quality Management Systems (ISO9001:2000 based).
  • Background in manufacturing techniques machining and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of MFG Pro preferred.
  • Use and comprehending specifications, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Knowledge of all mechanical components on the rig and their ideal operation.
  • Overall knowledge of product line.
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting principles.
