About the position

The Quality Inspector position involves inspecting, testing, and measuring materials and products during the manufacturing process to ensure they meet specified standards. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints and specifications, as well as the capability to recommend adjustments to production processes based on inspection results. The inspector will perform various types of inspections, including incoming, in-process, and final inspections, and will be responsible for documenting and reporting inspection data.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, or measure materials or products being produced.
  • Perform and approve the quality of raw materials before manufacturing begins.
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Monitor operations to ensure they meet production standards.
  • Recommend adjustments to the process or assembly based on inspection results.
  • Measure products with rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers.
  • Accept or reject finished items based on quality standards.
  • Remove all products and materials that fail to meet specifications.
  • Discuss inspection results with responsible parties.
  • Report inspection and test data accurately.
  • Perform receiving, 1st piece, and in-process inspections during manufacturing.
  • Verify and document that materials are manufactured to blueprint requirements.
  • Maintain acceptable quality levels during the manufacture of products and assemblies.
  • Undertake special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years of work experience or related work experience required.
  • College degree or equivalent education is required.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with calipers and micrometers; experience with First Article inspection in accordance with AS9100 is a plus.
  • Knowledge of operating electronic inspection equipment, such as coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs), is a plus.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of MRP software systems and experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 5S, and/or Lean Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Aerospace product knowledge is a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
