About the position

The Quality Control Technician at Bay Ltd. plays a crucial role in ensuring that all products meet the required quality standards in the oil and gas industry. This position involves conducting thorough inspections and testing in accordance with established quality documentation, codes, and other regulatory requirements. The technician will assist the Division Quality Manager with various QAQC tasks and activities, ensuring that all processes align with the company's commitment to quality and safety. The technician will utilize their strong foundational knowledge of inspection, testing, and non-destructive examination (NDE) methods specific to the oil and gas sector, which may include work in refineries and fabrication settings. Responsibilities include conducting NDE and testing, interpreting results, and performing various testing methods such as Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT), Positive Material Identification (PMI), and Ferrite determination. The technician will also be responsible for inspecting finished products and authorizing their release, ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and policies while promoting a culture of safety within the organization. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Quality Control Technician will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to the needs of the division. This role requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work under pressure to meet departmental targets and deadlines. The technician must also be prepared to work non-routine hours when necessary, reflecting the dynamic nature of the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections and testing in accordance with quality documentation, code, and other requirements.
  • Assist the Division Quality Manager with QAQC tasks and activities.
  • Conduct non-destructive examinations (NDE) and testing, reporting results accurately.
  • Perform various testing methods including MT, PT, RT, PMI, and FE.
  • Inspect finished products and authorize their release.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and policies while promoting the company's safety culture.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Trained in Positive Material Identification (PMI).
  • Level II Radiographic Testing (RT) certification with State Card is an advantage.
  • Level II Dye Penetrant Testing (PT) certification for weld inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly in refinery and fabrication settings.
  • Ability to work cooperatively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with hardness testing and weld radiography interpretation.
