About the position

The Quality Control Technician role at Actalent involves performing chemical and physical analyses on various samples, including products and ingredients, to ensure they meet specified quality standards. The technician will collaborate with the QA/QC team to recommend corrective actions based on analysis results, maintain lab equipment, and assist in improving product quality. This position requires a strong focus on maintaining Good Laboratory Practices and working effectively within a team in a food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical and physical analysis for samples as soon as they arrive.
  • Calculate and determine the amount of ingredients needed to adjust semi-finished good sample readings back to the specified range.
  • Discuss results and findings with product managers and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Conduct microbiological analysis for provided samples.
  • Verify data against specifications and determine acceptability.
  • Enter data into the system and conduct trend analysis.
  • Report any trends to the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment.
  • Maintain a clean working area after analysis and sample disposal.
  • Work collaboratively with other lab technicians and assist each other.
  • Cover for other lab technicians in their absence.
  • Help maintain the inventory of lab supplies.
  • Assist QA/QC management in improving product quality and conducting special projects.

Requirements

  • Experience in quality assurance and plant auditing.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles.
  • Ability to perform chemical and microbiological analyses.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
