About the position

The Quality Director for the Power & Propulsion Solutions (PPS) business area at BAE Systems is responsible for overseeing quality assurance, continuous improvement, and lifecycle management within the organization. This role involves collaborating with leadership to implement strategic initiatives that enhance quality performance and drive towards Zero Defect plans. The director will lead a team of quality managers, ensuring effective communication and problem-solving across various programs and projects, while also supporting compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, supervision, and guidance to ensure alignment with quality policy and strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership for planning and management of critical business performance and process improvements.
  • Develop a highly capable quality assurance staff by recruiting and organizing the team.
  • Influence design activities to ensure strong first-time quality performance.
  • Champion innovative ideas impacting affordability and production on the factory floor.
  • Develop and implement program quality plans and procedures.
  • Manage compliance with federal, state, and local regulations to minimize risk.
  • Review, analyze, and report on quality discrepancies and production data.
  • Support integrated senior management teams to improve performance and generate innovative solutions.
  • Investigate problems and develop corrective actions using RCCA techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Leadership experience in Engineering, Operations, and/or Quality
  • Experience in regulated industries such as automotive or aerospace
  • Command of Quality Sciences, strategies, standards, and controls
  • Experience with IATF 16949 Quality Management System and ISO 26262
  • APQP/PPAP experience through the product life cycle
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20%

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Technical Field
  • 12 years of leadership experience in Engineering, Operations, and Quality
  • ASQ CMQ, CQE certification or similar
  • Experience with Best-in-Class Manufacturing Principles
  • Demonstrated track record of recruiting and promoting talent
  • Collaborative project management skills
  • LSS Green Belt; Black Belt preferred
