About the position

The Quality Engineering Co-op position at Helicomb International offers an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This full-time role, lasting six months, involves project-based work alongside daily quality engineering operations, focusing on developing and implementing production methods while ensuring compliance with customer quality requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret customer engineering, specifications, and configuration plans.
  • Support business processes through interpretation of engineering documentation.
  • Ensure timely resolution/referral of user problems by understanding the impact to the user and assigning appropriate priority and resolution goals.
  • Gain an understanding of engineering drawings, manufacturing methods, finishes, quality requirements, and assembly requirements.
  • Assist with the verification and resolution of non-conforming products through RCCA.
  • Assist with the development of PFMEA, Gage R&R, and other Zero-Defect elements.
  • Complete one Highlight project during co-op placement, relating to continuous improvement within the department, including a formal presentation at the end of the term.

Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of 24 college credits and currently enrolled as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior at an accredited college or university in Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 15 hours of completed engineering courses is preferred.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Desire to gain knowledge of general aircraft parts and component machining, assembly engineering structure, and configuration management principles and processes.
  • Entry knowledge of computer-aided design tools (CAD/CAM, Catia).
  • Ability to manipulate data sets.
  • Blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with strong troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Analytical and methodical approach to tasks and work assignments.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and drive to provide quality solutions.
  • Understanding of Lean principles, techniques, and philosophies.
