About the position

The Quality Engineer II - Continuous Improvement at BAE Systems is responsible for ensuring superior quality in legacy Microelectronics processes. This role emphasizes compliance with AS9100 requirements, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and promotes data-based decision-making across production areas. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to enhance manufacturing processes and document non-conforming conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure process compliance to AS9100 requirements
  • Prevent escapes to customers using control charts, Measurement Systems Analysis, and Statistical Process Controls
  • Document dispositions of non-conforming conditions identified at inspection and develop Metrics for Key Process Indicators
  • Interact with Engineering, Engineering Quality Assurance, Program Management, and Manufacturing teams to sustain and improve manufacturing processes
  • Lead teams in continuous improvement activities in support of all areas of production
  • Improve the ability of all areas to make data-based decisions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience or 6 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Ability to acquire security clearance through The Department of Defense
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to communicate with peers and skilled labor within the company
  • Knowledge of Quality Management System Documentation as it relates to production practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrable background in Root Cause/Corrective Action and data analysis

Nice-to-haves

  • AS9100/ISO9000 background
  • Strong background in Six Sigma methodologies and/or statistical analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of Microelectronics methods and processes
  • Working knowledge of Oracle
