About the position

Plascore has an opening for a Quality Engineer II in our light-weight composite Panels business unit who can develop, implement, and drive quality standards. The Quality Engineer II should possess an in depth understanding of how to plan, and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, and products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal and external/supplier audits, including closing out audit findings, creating reports and determining proper corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, material specifications.
  • Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for product and process related concerns.
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
  • Responsible for non-conforming material, tracking and reporting on rejection of material.
  • Develop training to build quality awareness.
  • Review customer specific requirements. Support/perform conformance to customer specifications (PPAP, 1st article, data sheets, etc.) Participate in design review, new product launch and development.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and managing the overall activities of receiving/outgoing quality functions. Assist with supplier onboarding, surveillance, source inspection, and quality clause selection.
  • Assist, when necessary, with gage calibrations, conformance testing, special testing, die and fixture approvals.
  • Able to create and explain statistical analysis: SPC, Control Charts, Capability, etc.
  • Assist Quality Manager with supplier development.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products are in accordance with approved data.
  • Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
  • Participate in improving our product, processes, equipment, and methods, internally and within supply base.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Continually look for ways to improve job efficiency and performance.
  • Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in related engineering field
  • 4-6 years' experience in Quality Control or adjacent field
  • Must be able to work well independently and be self-directed
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good math and analytical skills
  • Experience supporting ISO9000, AS9100 and ISO 14001 initiatives
  • Comfortable with some travel -- supplier visits
  • Experience with internal and external supplier audits
