About the position

The Quality Engineer III at UCT is responsible for qualifying suppliers and products to meet customer needs, utilizing QMS, analytical, project management, and communication skills. This role involves assessing risk, monitoring supplier performance, conducting audits, and managing supplier qualification projects in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify suppliers and products to meet internal and external customer needs.
  • Conduct supplier manufacturing process audits to ensure reliable product production.
  • Perform supplier technical and quality process audits, risk assessments, and drive improvement actions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to complete periodic supplier scorecards and drive improvements.
  • Manage supplier qualification projects and provide regular updates to management.
  • Drive failure analysis on non-conformance materials and closure on non-conformance reports.
  • Provide technical and quality training to suppliers.
  • Interface with internal customers on quality issues and participate in failure analysis and corrective action efforts.
  • Provide monthly supplier quality executive summaries to management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of related experience in high-technology manufacturing, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment or related industry.
  • Hands-on experience with ISO 9001 or equivalent quality management systems and tools.
  • Experience in standard fabrication practices of structural frame, sheet metal fabrication, and precision machining processes.
  • Expertise in mechanical drawing interpretation using ASME Y14.5.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to communicate technical content effectively in English.
  • Hands-on knowledge of problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 why's, DOE, PFMEA, etc.) and quality engineering experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASQ CQA, CQT or CQE certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge in the application of Lean/Six Sigma.
