About the position

Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineering Intern to join our team at the Rochester, NY location. This internship will provide the opportunity to engage in impactful projects that assist Howmet Rochester while also contributing to the professional development of the intern. The role involves working closely with the Quality Manager and the quality engineering team to ensure compliance with quality standards and improve processes within the manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with the AS9100/ISO9001 standards and specific internal procedures.
  • Perform internal audits to uncover and close gaps found from audits in preparation for the plant's AS9100 recertification audit.
  • Organize/create a single source for completed first article inspection files currently stored in multiple locations.
  • Determine flow down accuracy of customer specifications and correct as required.
  • Learn fundamentals of Howmet Rochester's metal forging process.
  • Participate in plant Gemba walks.
  • Promote, maintain, and enforce safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by management, such as 8D write ups, data analysis, and problem investigation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2027.
  • 3.0 GPA and above with prior work experience preferred.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.) and comfortable working in a Microsoft systems environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities while focusing on timely and accurate task completion.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with operations personnel, internal and external customers, and top management representatives.
  • Ability to relate to and cooperate with cross-functional teams and manufacturing personnel.
  • Comfortable working in a metal forging facility that requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
