About the position

The Quality Engineer at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas is responsible for establishing quality expectations for rear axle assembly processes, including stamping, welding, paint, powertrain, and supplier quality. This role involves problem investigation, conducting trial confirmations, and drafting relevant documents while supporting the Quality Engineering department's objectives to meet project quality targets and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Establish product Quality expectations (e.g. standards, audit plans, etc.)
  • Conduct hands-on investigations of manufacturing problems, identify root cause, countermeasure options and resolution to prevent recurrence
  • Review and respond to customer (North America Motor Company) Quality issues
  • Draft and finalize project deliverables (e.g. standards, sample data sheets, part approvals etc.)
  • Manage supplier issues, PCR, ECI implementation, etc.
  • Communicate with suppliers, product engineering and design
  • Develop strong Team Member relationships to promote professional and effective communication to understand production issues with genchi genbutsu
  • Work independently and in a team with fellow QEs and/or with guidance from more experienced members
  • Conduct comprehensive and detailed analysis of manufacturing process related problems and make recommendations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in an Engineering Discipline
  • 1 year or more experience in an automotive manufacturing
  • Understanding of advanced datum structure, fit story development and check fixture development
  • Experience in drafting, gaining consensus, leading & implementing strategies
  • Conducted and led investigation and resolution of chronic manufacturing problems
  • Experience providing engineering process improvements suggestions and recommendations to production
  • Experience guiding and directing suppliers with engineering support
  • 1 year or more Quality Engineering Experience
  • Proficiency with macros in Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally 50% of the time

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year or more of experience working in a Quality Engineering at Toyota
  • Understanding of Toyota concepts, including the Toyota Production System and Kaizen
  • 1 year or more of experience in vehicle Quality Management operations
  • Experience with reviewing and understanding weld cut & etch
  • Familiar with GD&T
  • Familiar with NAQSF101
  • Frame Experience or Rear Axle Functional Experience
  • Familiar with Product traceability
  • Instrumentation or functional testing development
  • QE Pilot Experience from drawing development through SOP
